Frequently Asked Questions !!

Sometimes if a journey is particularly long, or collection times do not allow, we will collect a vehicle on one working day and deliver on the next – this is often referred to as a “layover”. The vehicle is parked securely overnight either in a storage compound or an off-road or in our driver’s garage.

In general, having your car driven to its destination is the cheaper option and faster, although you have to keep in mind the cost of petrol and the number of miles you are adding to the vehicle.

Also, although all of the drivers used by Auto Delivery are experienced professionals, your vehicle is at more risk of accident or damage when being driven, but no more so than if you were driving it yourself.

If you call us with your requirements, we will be happy to provide you with a quote for both driving and transporting your vehicle to its destination.

The best ways to transport a car in the UK are:

Professional Driven Service – This is the most popular method of transport, often the fastest and cheapest way to deliver your vehicle too.

Open transporter – this is a popular way to transport a car cross-country. This could be a dedicated single car transporter or a 4×4 towing a trailer, or a larger multi-vehicle transporter.

Enclosed transporter – if you need extra protection from road damage, security or weather effects on your vehicle, you should consider using an enclosed transporter service. This is usually more expensive than an open transporter.

Trade Plates, when displayed correctly, allow a vehicle without a valid road fund licence to be driven on the roads legally.

We do fuel inclusive on USED vehicles. This must be confirmed when booking. In all other instances we will fuel the vehicle for the journey or recharge it at cost price to you. We use the minimum fuel required for each journey and if the vehicle already has fuel we won’t add any more (unless you ask us to), in addition you receive photographic record of the dashboard on collection showing fuel level and mileage. Plus scans of fuel receipts. We can provide a guide-price on how much fuel will be used. Get in touch to enquire about fuel inclusive service.

We’ll call you to let you know if there are any issues and to find out how you want to handle the matter. We always prefer to use your vehicle’s breakdown protection if it is available. If the car is not already covered, we do offer complete breakdown support. Please review the terms and conditions for more information on how we charge you for breakdown help.
